Stag’s Breath Festive Trifle
Ingredients:
For the trifle:
• 1 plain sponge cake or 6 trifle sponges
• 100ml Stag’s Breath Liqueur
• 300g mixed berries (raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries)
• 500ml vanilla custard
• 250ml double cream, whipped
• Grated chocolate or chocolate curls, for garnish
• Mint leaves, for decoration
For the berry compote:
• 200g mixed berries
• 50g sugar
• 1 tbsp water
Method:
1. Prepare the compote: In a small saucepan, heat the berries, sugar, and water over medium heat until the fruit softens and the mixture thickens slightly. Let it cool.
2. Layer the trifle:
• Slice the sponge cake and arrange it at the bottom of a large trifle dish or individual glasses.
• Drizzle the Stag’s Breath Liqueur evenly over the sponge to soak.
• Spread a layer of berry compote over the sponge.
• Pour the vanilla custard over the compote, spreading it evenly.
• Add fresh berries on top of the custard layer.
3. Finish with cream: Spoon or pipe the whipped cream over the top. Garnish with grated chocolate and a sprig of mint for a festive touch.
4. Chill and serve: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
